"We have revealed that small Maf proteins (MafF, MafG and MafK) are essential for mice embryogenesis through generating small Maf triple-knockout mice." 小Maf群因子とCNC群因子は2量体を形成してストレス応答遺伝子群の発現を制御しています。小Maf群因子はMafF・MafG・MafKで構成されますが、機能的に類似していると考えられていました。そこで、私たちは3種類の小Maf群因子全てを欠失したマウスを作製し、小Maf群因子が胎生中期以降の発生において重要な役割を果たしていることを明らかにしました。小Maf群因子三重欠失マウスとCNC群因子欠失マウスの表現型と類似していたことから、CNC群因子は小Maf群因子を必須のパートナーとしていることを遺伝学的に証明することに成功しました。
